About this part

A pack of 100 through-hole 5mm infrared diodes for infrared sensing and signalling circuits. Choose 850nm or 940nm emitters to send invisible infrared light, or 940nm receivers to detect it.

100 pieces per pack, 5 mm lens, clear or black
850nm emitter: 60° angle, 1.4 to 1.6V forward voltage
940nm emitter: 45° angle, 1.2 to 1.5V forward voltage
940nm receiver: 30° angle
Rated current 20mA; the longer leg is the anode and the shorter leg the cathode

Run each emitter through a current-limiting resistor so it stays at or below 20mA, and pair a 940nm emitter with the 940nm receiver so the wavelengths match.
