About this part

The TFmini-S is a small single-point time-of-flight lidar that measures the distance to whatever is straight in front of it, from 0.1m out to 12m. It works with Arduino and Pixhawk setups and suits drones and robots that need a narrow, precise distance reading rather than a wide sweep.

Range: 0.1 to 12m, or up to 5m on targets with 10% reflectivity
Accuracy: 1% under 6m and 2% from 6 to 12m, with 5mm resolution
Output: UART (115200 baud) or I2C, switchable
Update rate: 100Hz by default, adjustable from 1 to 1000Hz
Optics and power: 850nm VCSEL light source, 2° field of view, 4.5-6V supply, 0.12W average

Anything closer than 0.1m sits in its blind zone and won't give a reliable reading, so plan for that gap when you mount it.
