About this part

A 16x2 character LCD that shows two lines of 16 characters, run by a built-in HD44780-equivalent controller. It's a simple way to put text and readings from a microcontroller on a screen, and it comes alone, with a PCF8574 I2C adapter, or as the adapter on its own.

  • Display: 2 lines x 16 characters, wide viewing angle and high contrast
  • Supply: 5V DC
  • Size: 80 x 35 x 11 mm module, 64.5 x 16 mm viewing area
  • Plain versions: green, white or blue
  • I2C versions: blue or green, or the PCF8574 I2C adapter alone

The plain screen needs seven I/O pins to drive, while the I2C version uses a 4-wire connection and frees up five of them for sensors or relays.
