About this part

Light-dependent resistors (LDRs), also called photoresistors, whose resistance changes with the amount of light falling on them. They're a simple way to add light and dark sensing to a circuit, from automatic night lights to light meters and classroom experiments with Arduino or other microcontrollers.

  • Types: 5506, 5516, 5528 (GL5528), 5537 or 5539
  • Pack: 20 pieces of the type you choose
  • Mounting: through-hole leads
  • Operating temperature: -30 to +70°C

Wire one in series with a fixed resistor to make a voltage divider, then read the midpoint on an analog input pin.
