About this part

An assortment of 66 solder-type DIP IC sockets in eight sizes, from 6 to 28 pins. You solder the socket to the board in place of the chip, then press the chip in, so a DIP chip can be fitted, swapped or replaced later without desoldering it.

Solder the socket in first and fit the chip once the board has cooled, which keeps soldering heat away from the chip.
