About computer and USB accessories

Desk and lab accessories that make a computer more useful for electronics work. USB isolators built on the ADuM3160 and ADuM3165 separate a laptop's USB port from a circuit with its own ground, and USB-to-RS485 and CANable USB-to-CAN adapters talk to industrial and vehicle buses. HDMI and DisplayPort dummy plugs let a headless machine run as if a monitor were attached, and there's a NanoKVM-USB, a USB video capture card, card readers, an M.2 SSD enclosure, USB and USB-C to Ethernet adapters up to 2.5 Gbps, a USB 3 hub with a switch on each port and an EFR32MG21 Zigbee dongle for home automation.

For keyboard builders there are Kailh Choc low-profile switches, hot-swap sockets, blank PBT keycaps in DSA and ortholinear sets, and programmable macro keypads. Check the connector (USB-A or USB-C) and the USB speed you need: a USB 2.0 device won't run any faster on a USB 3 port.

Questions about computer and USB accessories

What is an HDMI dummy plug for?
It makes a computer, Raspberry Pi or mini PC behave as if a monitor were connected, so it keeps a desktop running for remote access and GPU work with no screen attached.
Why use a USB isolator?
It separates your computer's USB ground and power from the circuit you're working on, which breaks ground loops and keeps a wiring fault away from the computer's USB port. Check the speed: the ADuM3160 runs at USB full speed (12 Mbps) and the ADuM3165 at high speed (480 Mbps).
Do Kailh Choc switches take MX keycaps?
Choc V1 switches have their own low-profile stem and need Choc keycaps. Choc V2 switches use an MX-style cross stem, so MX-compatible keycaps fit them. Hot-swap sockets are made for one switch family, so match those too.
How long does delivery take, and what does shipping cost?
Most parts ship to Canadian addresses directly from our supplier partners, most of them outside Canada, and most orders arrive within 1 to 3 weeks; the product page shows its own estimate. Items marked eligible on their product page ship free once the eligible items in your cart total $20 or more (a cart of many low-priced parts needs more than $20 of them, and the cart shows how much). Until then, and for items that aren't eligible, each item pays its supplier's shipping quote for your address, and checkout shows every charge and the tax before you pay.
