About this part

The LM2596 module is an adjustable step-down converter that brings a higher DC voltage down to anywhere from 1.5V to 35V, at up to 3A. A small potentiometer sets the output, so one module can run the lower-voltage parts of a project from a battery pack or a higher-voltage supply.

Modules leave the factory set near maximum output, and it can take 15 to 20 counterclockwise turns of the potentiometer before the voltage starts to drop, so set it with a multimeter before connecting a load. For long runs, keep the current under 2.5A and add a heat sink.
